Hi!
I’m wondering if I need to take bio 225 before I start studying for the MCAT? Or can I hold off on taking the class until after the MCAT?
Thanks!
Hi Pete,
I think that Bio 225 is a very helpful class to take prior to taking the MCAT. However, it is not absolutely essential that you complete it prior to taking the exam. The Biology section of the MCAT is a good mix of the intro bio sequence, biochemistry, and physiology. Fortunately, the physiology is not conceptually as difficult as Physics or Chemistry and certainly can be self taught. However, you must account for this when planning your MCAT study schedule. You will need to add some more time to allow yourself to learn the Physiology necessary to excel on the MCAT. Please feel free to drop into Office Hours if you have any more questions!
