Pre-Med Q&ACategory: Scheduling and ClassesWinter 2021 Schedule
AvatarAnon asked 2 years ago

Hi! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe! I am planning my Winter 2021 schedule and I am a little conflicted on what I should do. I plan to take the MCAT in August 2021 since I am pretty much done with all my prereqs. My plan was to take MCDB 310 and PHYSICS 235/236 and some distribution courses, but I am thinking of maybe doing BIO 225 instead of the distribution courses. I know that it is recommended to only take about 2 STEM courses a semester, but some people I have been talking to have recommended taking a physiology course before the MCAT as it can be quite helpful. I know many people tend to self-study physio, but I am afraid that it might not be as effective as actually taking BIO 225. If I were to do this schedule, it would just be:

MCDB 310 (4 Credits)
PHYSICS 235/236 (5 Credits)
BIO 225 (3 Credits)

Do you think this schedule is doable or should I just stick to MCDB 310 and PHYSICS 235/236? Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Hello, hope you are safe and doing well too!

Although we recommend taking no more than 2 STEM classes at a time, I think the schedule you listed is definitely doable, since you’ll only be taking 12 credits anyways. Bio 225 is definitely a good course to take right before the MCAT so I would keep that in your schedule, same with MCDB 310.
