I already have AP credit for statistics (Stats 180), and I know that medical schools often value taking a statistics course while actually in college. I would prefer not to lose my AP credit by taking Stats 250, and Stats 280 (Honors) has not been offered for a while – I emailed the Stats dept. and they aren’t sure when 280 will be offered again.
So, I have enrolled in Stats 206 (Intro to Data Science). Would this course be a good choice with medical school admissions in mind? I genuinely think learning about data science will be much more interesting than taking intro stats again.
Hi!
I would say that taking Stats 206 should be fine! Most medical schools recommend (not require) statistics, so having AP statistics credit and taking a 200-level course that is listed as a stats class should be sufficient enough. As always, I would recommend double-checking with a Newnan pre-health advisor when you get the chance, just to be sure.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.
