I’m going back home this summer and wanted to see if I could get some pre-reqs out of the way. Are there any classes that are recommended to take elsewhere? I was thinking about taking either physics or stats at a community college.
Hi Gigi,
Medical schools generally prefer that you take most if not all prerequisites at your own university. However, there are some exceptions; physics and math classes are two that you should be alright taking elsewhere. You can refer to this site to see which classes transfer from other colleges. Even though you can count classes from other universities for requirements at Michigan, remember that it will not be taken into account in your Michigan GPA. Additionally, if you do take classes at another university, keep in mind that you will have to send in a transcript from that university to AMCAS when you apply.
