When should you reconsider retaking a med school required course. For example if I got a B- in Biochem, is it recommended to retake because I know a C+ is recommended but I’m not sure about a B-? Also, should I mask something like this as P/F?
Hello,
First of all, I think retaking a class is a big commitment and it is important to sit down and think before you make the decision. I think having a B- does not necessarily suggest a retake if you are only thinking from a medical school’s admission standpoint. But if you feel like the circumstances of this semester are preventing you from doing your best and there are a lot of things that are going on in your life which prevent you from succeeding in the class, I personally think you can retake it. Furthermore, biochem is an important course for the MCAT and if you feel like your knowledge of the class is not too solid, retaking it would not be a bad option. However, I do think it is important to realize that retaking the class is a lot to handle as you have to go through the entire class again and that could be draining. This is just my personal opinion, I hope that helps a little. Good luck on the rest of your finals!
