Hi!  I am currently browsing the LSA course guide for the spring semester and it appears that the lab portion for physics 251 is being offered remotely. I was wondering if anyone knew what that might look like in terms of how it compares to an in person section.

Hello,

Sorry for this late response, somehow we missed this question.

I took Physics 135 (which is analogous to 150 now) online, and essentially they gave us a spreadsheet of already completed data collection. We then had to perform the analysis in breakout rooms with about 2 other people. Personally, this was not a very positive experience for me. It was difficult to work with other people on zoom doing this and complete the lab in the designated time. This was during covid-peak, so it might look a little different now. I took 250 in person, and it was a much more positive experience. It was easier to ask the GSIs question and work collaboratively with other students.

I hope this helps! If you have other questions feel free to attend our advising hours or respond to this post.

All the best,
