I really want to study abroad the winter of my junior year, but I am worried about MCAT timing. I am planning on taking Biochem junior year fall, then going abroad, then taking PChem in the spring here. I only want to take one gap year, so was going to try and study over the summer and take the MCAT in september. Is this possible?
Hello! So sorry for this late response, somehow we didn’t get notified of your question.
If you are only planning on taking PChem and studying for the MCAT that summer, I think you should be okay. There are lots of Chem related topics on the MCAT that would be helpful to have fresh in your mind. However, it might be difficult to work, and take a class, and study.
I took the MCAT last August after my junior year like you are planning to. I took Calculus and worked two days at the same time while I was studying. This was very challenging and draining for me, and I wouldn’t really recommend it. However, it is doable. Just remember that it is really important to take time for yourself, and it is completely fine to have to make adjustments to your schedule if needed.
I hope this helps! If you have more questions, feel free to return to the home page to ask another or come to our advising hours.
Cheers!
