Pre-Med Q&ACategory: MiscellaneousMedicine and technology

Hi, I’ve heard a lot about people pursuing M.D/D.O degrees finding another passion and pursuing MPHs, MBAs,JDs etc as well. I am curious how technology intersects with medicine. I looked into it a bit and found that there are people with biomedical engineering backgrounds going into medicine but I could not find much info for people in M.D/D.O programs getting more training in Biomed etc. Any insight into this?

Hi,
Thank you for the question! Technology is even more critical for medicine nowadays so it is awesome that you’re interested in the two. Although it is more common to get an engineering background before medical school than vice versa, there are some programs out there that allow you to integrate technology into your medical degree. Harvard/MIT has a program: https://meded.hms.harvard.edu/health-sciences-technology
Hope this helps!
