Pre-Med Q&ACategory: Scheduling and ClassesGenetics for Med School? (originally asked on April 4th, 2018)

Is genetics required to apply to med schools? BIO 305 is an elective for my major so I’m trying to decide if I should take it.

Hi Jessica,

Genetics is not required for medical school nor is it heavily tested on the MCAT. While it looks great on your transcript as an upper level science elective, it is not a requirement.
