Hi, I was wondering the reasonability of taking an introductory biochemistry course (either MCDB 310 or CHEM 415) with BIOLOGY 305 (genetics) with two remaining 4 credit social science courses for a total of 16 credits. I am not too sure if it this would be a weird schedule combination if ultimately I have to take genetics and biochemistry together.
Hello!
Genetics and Biochemistry are both challenging classes, therefore I wouldn’t recommend taking both in the same semester, especially if you have 2 other classes to worry about. Genetics and biochem both require a constant time commitment for studying, and the exams often coincide for both classes (within a week of each other), so it would be best to pick one class to take next semester, then delay the other one for the following semester so you don’t burn yourself out.
Best of luck and let us know if you have any further questions!
Best,
Caitlin, PMH advisor
