Hi! I just finished up my freshman year, and I was planning on taking biology 225 over the summer. However, I haven\’t taken orgo 1 yet which is listed as an advisory prereq. Is a foundation in organic chem necessary to succeed in this class?

Hi!

In my experience, you do not need organic chemistry knowledge to do well in bio 225. Chemistry is very rarely used, if at all, in that class, and the majority of it understanding and applying biological mechanisms. However, because orgo 1 is listed as a prerequisite, double-check with the professor(s) to make sure you are still able to register for it!
