Hi Harris! From my experience with Bio 173, the GSIs take back the exams once we take a look at the graded version. So unfortunately, to my knowledge I haven’t seen any past exams out there. I haven’t seen any for Bio 172 either, but it might be worth it to ask people you know who have taken it.
However, some study methods that I found useful were making a general outline of the main points and from there, going through notes and/or the manual and focusing on the specific details. This helps keep all the information sectioned and neatly organized so that it’s easier to intake. Also, it’s important to understand how to interpret data because you may receive questions asking you to explain the significance of a given result. I’m not sure how the exams will be with courses being hybrid this semester, but when I took Bio 173, the exams were written, so it’s also important to be able to articulate what you’ve learned. Studying with a friend through zoom or just explaining concepts out loud could help with this. Lastly, there are questions that are relatively straight forward, and some that are a little more complex and require you to apply your knowledge. I hope this helps and good luck with your courses this semester!
